Strings and Chamber Music

at Morningside

Morningside offers a unique combination of performance

and learning opportunities.

Recitals & Private Instruction

Students give regular recitals in Eppley Auditorium, a major 1,400- seat concert venue.

High-quality regular private lessons are given in a supportive atmosphere. Weekly seminar provides opportunities for performing in a masterclass setting, discussing issues of concern to string players, observing fine string playing on video and other issues.

Chamber Music & Orchestra

Ensembles coached by members of the Morningside Trio are a feature of Morningside’s offerings. Morningside provides the opportunity to play in the fine student orchestra conducted by Joseph Shufro. Students may also be offered paid positions in the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, providing valuable professional work experience and additional income.

Leo Kucinski Academy of Music

The academy, which is associated with Morningside College, offers qualified students the opportunity to teach young string students under the supervision of the Morningside faculty.

Personal Attention

Morningside is small in size but large in opportunities. A high degree of interaction exists between students and faculty. Morningside offers degree plans designed to accommodate any individual’s interest including:

Students must perform an audition to be eligible.

The Morningside Trio

The Morningside Trio is a part of Morningside’s long tradition of excellence in musical performance. The trio, all experienced teachers as well as seasoned performers, are members of the Morningside College music faculty. The trio provides a role model for Morningside students and, in addition, serves as a cultural resource for the Sioux City community. While maintaining a busy schedule, the trio:

• Presents performances in public schools,

• Conducts workshops and masterclasses

• Teaches individuals and chamber music groups
